Friends in Low Places
Funny thingâŚ
For years I quietly tracked a certain somebodyâs presidential travel routes â not because I admired him, but because the pattern was too strange to ignore.
Every trip felt backwards.
Every destination was the opposite of where a president building a real future would go.
While the press talked diplomacy, I kept hearing Garth Brooks humming in the background:
đľ âI got friends in low placesâŚâ
Because thatâs what it looked like:
Not strategy â grift-travel.
A scavenger hunt stitched together with IOUs and offshore favors.
I finally stopped tracking the day he hit the UK.
That was the tell.
Thatâs where the Argentina gold sits parked.
Thatâs where the map flips.
And once you see that thread, the rest of the tapestry pulls itself loose:
Shadow corridors.
Prince-adjacent detours.
Old networks that never stopped operating â just switched planes.
At some point, I quit following the man and started following the money.
The map did the talking.
The map told the joke.
Listen close and the whole saga plays like a country tune about a guy who always knew where the low places were â
because thatâs where the easy money lives.
I donât need to name names.
The pattern names itself.
But if Nashville ever needs a new hit, Iâve been singing the chorus for years:
đľ I got friends in low placesâŚ
đ and theyâve been cashing in since Day One.
